Oregon Sends Fire Task Forces to Jackson County as East Evans Creek Fire Triggers First Major Mobilization of Season
JACKSON COUNTY, Ore. — The Oregon State Fire Marshall has mobilized four structural task forces and its Blue Incident Management Team to Jackson County to attend to the fast-moving East Evans Creek Road fire yesterday, the first major mobilization in the state this wildfire season.
Oregon Fire Crews At Fast-Moving Jackson County Fire Under Emergency Conflagration Act
Crews were deployed to the fast-moving East Evans Creek Road fire that sparked Friday and quickly grew to over 1,500 acres. The fire is threatening nearby homes and several communities.
For the first time in 2026, Oregon Governor Tina Kotek invoked the Emergency Conflagration Act for the fire on Friday night, allowing the Oregon State Fire Marshal to mobilize additional resources through the Oregon Fire Mutual Aid System.
State fire marshal task forces from Lincoln, Linn, Marion, and the south coast (Coos, Curry, Lane, and Douglas counties), with a task force from Klamath County and a strike team from Douglas County, mobilized Friday evening to support local structural resources.
