Oregon Man Gets Life in Prison for Fatally Stabbing 9-Year-Old Over Pokémon Game

COOS COUNTY, Ore. — A 36-year-old Coos Bay man, who stabbed a nine-year-old with a spear when he became angry over a game of Pokemon, has been sentenced to life in prison.

Levi Higgins-Green pleaded guilty to second-degree murder, strangulation, two counts of first-degree criminal mistreatment, one count of second-degree assault, and two counts of third-degree assault.

According to court documents, the fatal stabbing took place at the Higgins-Green home on Cape Arago Highway in Charleston on the evening of September 28, 2025.

 

The Child Was Dead On Arrival at the Bay Area Hospital

The child was pronounced deceased on admission to the Bay Area Hospital.

Initially, Higgins-Green told investigators that the child was accidentally stabbed by his younger sister while they were playing with the three-to-four-foot-long spear.

However, court documents reveal that the sibling later told law enforcement that Higgins-Green stabbed the boy when he became angered over a Pokemon game that they were playing.
