Medford Sportsman’s Warehouse Closes After Fatal Incident Inside Store

MEDFORD, Ore. — Sportsman’s Warehouse in Medford is closed today after a tragic suicide occurred on the premises at 9.52 a.m. yesterday (Saturday).

When Medford Police officers responded to reports of shots fired at the premises, they discovered that the shooting was an act of suicide.

Police said the store was secured for investigation, but also confirmed there was no continuing physical threat to people inside the business.

After the shooting, Sportsman’s Warehouse closed its doors to the public, and the police secured the area to conduct an investigation.

In a statement, Medford Police Chief Trevor Arnold appeals to the public to reach out to the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline by calling or texting 988 if they are aware of anyone experiencing a mental health crisis or emotional distress.

Chief Arnold assures that the incident did not evoke a physical threat to anyone inside the store, and confirms that the deceased’s next-of-kin have been notified.
