East Evans Creek Fire Holds at 11,551 Acres as Crews Battle 30 MPH Wind Gusts
JACKSON COUNTY, Ore. — Firefighters on the East Evans Creek Fire continue to battle challenging conditions as wind gusts of up to 30 mph persist.
Despite the active fire behavior, cooler temperatures and increased relative humidity have allowed crews to hold the fire within its current 11,551-acre footprint and make meaningful progress on containment, which is currently at 5%.

Protecting homes and infrastructure remains the primary focus for firefighters. Crews made significant gains on the Canyon Creek spot fire near Shady Cove and Trail, with wildland resources successfully lining the 250-acre perimeter.
Structural task forces are actively hardening properties and improving defensible space in these neighborhoods, as well as in the Ramsey Creek area and along the fire’s western edge.
In the north, established lines are holding despite the wind. Operations on the Board Mountain spot fire are ongoing, with crews building an additional line to halt further progression.
Mop-up operations continue along the southern edge of the fire that began last Friday, and containment is expected to rise as these control lines are connected and strengthened.
