Oregon State Beavers Honors Seniors Who Deliver A Decisive Win Against Washington State Cougars
In a significant game against the Washington State Cougars at Reser Stadium on Saturday, Oregon State honored its veteran players before kicking off.
Those honored included Ben Gulbranson and Everett Hayes, who both played pivotal roles in delivering a 41-38 victory for the Beavers.

After being sidelined for the Beavers losing game against Air Force last Saturday due to an injury,
Gulbranson led the team this week to an impressive win, improving the team to 5-6 on the season, while the Cougars dropped to 8-3. Beavers coach Trent Bray praised players for their work ethic despite the Air Force loss. The highlights of Saturday’s game included:
- Jaheim Patterson burst into the backfield, knocking down Cougars QB John Mateer for a loss, forcing a punt after the Cougars had worked themselves into a third-and-1 scenario.
- Early in the game, QB Gabarri Johnson delivered the Beavers’ first points in the first quarter after he checked in at quarterback midway through the opening drive, running just two plays before Gulbranson returned on offense. But in this play, Johnson moved into the red zone to score a 15-yard touchdown.
- After starting perfect 5-for-5 in the first quarter, Gulbranson delivered a game-tying drive with a 4-yard touchdown pass to Darrius Clemons.
- As the time wound down, the Beavers pushed seven plays over 12 yards to set up Hayes’ decisive field goal. With 20 seconds left in regulation time, Hayes drilled a game-winning 55-yard field goal to deliver victory.
