Oregon Man Gets More Than 11 Years for Robberies Targeting Asian-Owned Businesses Near Tigard

Jose Manuel Escobar De Loera was sentenced to more than 11 years in prison for robberies targeting Asian-owned businesses in the Tigard and Tualatin area late last year.

Court documents show De Loera was allegedly part of a group that carried out armed robberies at Asian-owned massage businesses. On December 13, 2025, he carried out robberies at two Tigard massage businesses, posing as a customer.

De Loera’s phone records and surveillance videos showed that he had looked up the locations and visited them before the robberies.

After searching and mapping the businesses, De Loera, inside, had his accomplices enter with masks and weapons. They threatened employees before they stole cash and phones.

The group committed a similar crime on December 16, but employees at the business ran off and sought help from a passing driver, who caught De Loera holding a security box from the business and trying to toss stolen cash and phones into a nearby creek.

De Loera was found guilty last month on two counts of first-degree robbery, two counts of second-degree robbery, and two counts of first-degree theft and was sentenced to 135 months in prison.
