Oregon Deputies Say 14-Year-Old Turned Himself In After Wood Village School Bus Stop Shooting

A 14-year-old boy turned himself in to the Multnomah County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO) yesterday for shooting a 13-year-old girl in Wood Village on May 15.

His surrender was facilitated by his attorney, following a search for the shooter by MCSO deputies, and detectives, and members of the U.S. Marshals Pacific Northwest Violent Offender Task Force.

The shooting occurred at 11.15 a.m. last Friday near Northeast 235th Avenue and Northeast Arata Road in Wood Village.

 

The Incident Was Sparked by a Physical Fight Between Two Teenage Girls

The incident was sparked by a physical fight between two teenage girls, both known to the suspect, after they exited a school bus. The suspect allegedly pulled out a firearm and shot the 13-year-old girl while the fight was in progress. He then immediately fled the scene.

Detectives have since confirmed that the suspect is not enrolled in the Reynolds School District and that no further information will be released about him because he is under 18 years of age.

The 13-year-old victim remains in the hospital, where she is being treated for non-life-threatening injuries. Her identity will also not be released.

The suspect surrendered at the Multnomah County Donald E. Long Juvenile Detention Center in Northeast Portland. He is in custody on charges of attempted murder, first-degree assault, and the unlawful use of a weapon.
