SOU Raiders’ Head coach Berk Brown announces 36 signees for 2024

ASHLAND, Ore. — During their first full recruiting cycle, Southern Oregon University football head coach Berk Brown and his staff announced on Friday 36 new players who will be joining the revitalized Raiders in the fall.

The class includes five transfers and 31 high school seniors, which consists of 13 players from Oregon, 10 from California, 9 from Nevada, 3 from Washington, and 1 from Hawaii. Brown still plans to add ten more student-athletes to the group. The offensive line had the highest amount of recruiting activity, with nine players in this category. Among those seven receivers is Ashland High School star-athlete Caden Negra.

Brown, who led the Raiders to five victories in their final six games in his first season as head coach, said, “We are delighted to announce the first of our 2024 recruiting class. We feel that the signing of these 36 young men builds on the momentum we finished the season with.

We have strengthened a team that is eager to succeed by adding size, speed, athleticism, and, most importantly, character. Our coaches put in a great deal of effort to assemble a class that our supporters will be proud of and that broadens the diversity in a locker room that already has a lot of character.”

According to Brown, he is proud that the class also has a combined grade-point average of more than 3.2.

He said, “We are not done yet, but this is an excellent start to prepare us for our game against Lincoln University on September 7.”
