75-Year-Old Oregon City Hiker Rescued After Knee Injury on Salmon River Trail
CLACKAMAS COUNTY, Ore. โ Clackamas County Sheriffโs Office Search and Rescue volunteers took six-and-a-half hours to reach and rescue a 75-year-old woman hiking on the Salmon River Trail.
The rescue operation began shortly before 1 p.m. on Friday, June 19, when coordinators received a report about the injured hiker.
They learned that Caroline Iverson (75) of Oregon City had suffered a knee injury and was unable to hike back to the trailhead.
Volunteer Search and Rescue volunteers located Caroline after a 2.5-mile hike. After assessing her condition, they deployed a wheeled Stokes litter to transport her safely back to the trailhead, which they reached at about 7.30 p.m.
- Before 1 p.m. : Coordinators receive the injured hiker report.
- Afternoon : Volunteers hike 2.5 miles to reach Caroline Iverson.
- After assessment : A wheeled Stokes litter is used.
- About 7:30 p.m. : Crews return to the trailhead.
- Afterward : AMR takes Iverson to a hospital.
Caroline was handed over to American Medical Response, who transported her to a local hospital for evaluation and treatment.
