33% Shooting Average From Portland Trail Blazers Leads To Loss Against Memphis Grizzlies

The Memphis Grizzlies scored a 123-98 victory over the Portland Trail Blazers in Memphis on Monday night after a night of poor shooting from the Blazers. Trailing by double digits in the first half,

Portland ended within six points in the third quarter but never got any closer. Portland shot 34 for 102, representing a 33% overall shooting average.

 

Portland Trail Blazers vs Memphis Grizzlies Game Highlights

For the Grizzlies, Ja Morant returned to the lineup to lead the Grizzlies after missing eight games with a hip injury, finishing with 22 points and 11 assists.

His return helped the Grizzlies’ offense- one of the fastest in the league- pick up the pace despite being limited in fast-break points. The highlights of the game included:

  • Morant shot 6 for 12 from the field, including 2 for 3 from 3-point range, finishing on 22 points.
  • Also contributing an exciting moment to the game, Morant made a 3-pointer near the close of the first half with a successful shot from three-quarters court. Unfortunately, the shot was after the second quarter horn but still left Memphis leading 65-54 by the break.
  • Deni Avdija led with 17 points, eight rebounds, and six assists for the Blazers, while Shaedon Sharpe added another 15 points.
  • Jaren Jackson Jr. scored 21 points, and Santi Aldama finished with 13 points and a career-high 17 rebounds.
  • The Trail Blazers made only three of their 20 shots from outside the arc in the first half, finishing the game with a measly 8 of 46 from beyond the arc.
