Eugene Police Search for Border Collie Stolen From 73-Year-Old Homeless Woman While She Slept

EUGENE, Ore. — Eugene Police Department is searching for a pure-bred Border Collie named Beau, who was stolen from a homeless 73-year-old woman as she lay sleeping.

The theft occurred in the early hours of September 23 and was captured on video. The police are treating the case as first-degree theft because Beau was her companion animal.

The homeless woman reported she was sleeping on the corner of West Broadway and Olive Street. She said Beau was with her when she went to bed. However, he was gone when she awoke.

The video shows Beau wandering off at around 12.30 a.m. A group of people brought him back on his leash and tied him up near the woman. However, they returned about 45 minutes later and left the scene with Beau.

Beau is two years old and is a tri-colored pure-bred Border Collie who answers to his name. He is not neutered and was last seen wearing a black coat with reflective stripes, a green leash with tags, and an E-tag.

Anyone with information about this case should contact the police at 541-682-5111 and reference case# 26-15557.
