Third Teenager Arrested and Charged With Murder in Gresham Drive-By Fatal Shooting

GRESHAM, Ore. — A third teenager, all 16 years old, has been arrested and charged with murder following the fatal shooting of a man in a drive-by incident in Gresham on 13 May.

Jeffrey Daniel, who was shot in the 3500 block of Southeast Richey Road during the early hours of the morning, was dropped off at a local hospital by a person or persons unknown in a silver 2009 Subaru Impreza where he died of his injuries four days later.

When Gresham Police Department officers arrived at the scene of the shooting, there were no suspects or the victim. However, there were bullet casings in the street, and police also discovered bullet holes in a nearby residential property.

Two teenagers were arrested the following day and charged with second-degree attempted murder, unlawful use of a firearm, and conspiracy.

The police then gathered sufficient evidence to obtain a warrant for the third suspect, who they arrested at a home in Northeast Portland.

At the time of the drive-by shooting, the police said that the victim, Jeffrey Daniel, had been fatally injured when he was struck by gunshots fired from the vehicle involved in the incident.

All three teenagers are facing murder charges.

Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to contact Detective Frederick Huffman at [email protected], or Detective Tim Snider at [email protected].
