Wall Street Journal Lists Oregon Ski Resort as One of the Best in North America

Have you ever been to a ski resort? They’re fun and exhilarating outside, warm and cozy on the inside. It’s a tailored experience that can be extremely difficult to craft, which is why when you pick a ski resort, you want to know you’re getting the best service for your money’s worth.

Well, thanks to a new Wall Street Journal article, we now have confirmation that an Oregon ski resort is one of the best you can find in North America.

Their article, 100 Best Ski Resorts in the U.S. and Canada, they dropped in Oregon’s Mt. Bachelor ski resort as the fifth best ski resort in North America, following behind top four winners, British Columbia’s Whistler, California’s Palisades Tahoe, Wyomin’s Jackson Hole, and Utah’s Snowbird.

So, how did they figure out which ones were the best? They had several requirements for a ski resort to qualify. The resort needed to have at least 100 skiable acres, average at least 50 inches of snow a season, and have at least one working chairlift. After that, they had eight measures of criteria to judge the resorts, including the amount of snowfall (which counts for 50% of the scoring), the quality of the terrain (40%), and the “liveliness of the après-ski scene” (10%).

In the end, the Oregon resort was given a score of 87.81. One thing that was greatly highlighted was the abundance of snowfall, as well as great terrain that made skiing a smooth and fun process.

Mt. Bachelor wasn’t the only Oregon ski resort on the list, though. As you may have guessed, Mt. Hood Meadows also made an appearance, coming in at number 25. Timberline also appeared as number 31, while Mt. Hood Skibowl at number 88, despite getting one of the highest scores for après ski, clocking in at a 80.6. Even if these resorts might be lower than Mt. Bachelor, they’re still in the top 100 in all of North America, which counts for something. Well, if you want somewhere fun to go for a vacation, you now have a few spots that are certified as some of the best in the United States.
