Oregon Father Gets Nearly 46 Years After Jury Finds Deliberate Cruelty in Child Abuse Case
The father of a seven-year-old Springfield boy, who was repeatedly tasered and beaten by his parents, was sentenced to nearly 46 years behind bars on Friday.
A jury found that Brandon Bret Rogers acted with deliberate cruelty when pronouncing him guilty on 59 counts of child abuse.
The mother of the child, Heather Lynn Black, was sentenced to 15 years in prison for her role in the incidents of child abuse. Black pleaded guilty to multiple charges, including second-degree assault and the unlawful use of a weapon.
According to the Lane County District Attorney’s Office, the case began in September 2024 when officers from the Springfield Police Department responded to a child abuse report.
On arrival at the residence, officers found a malnourished child. A home surveillance video revealed footage of the boy suffering abuse at the hands of his parents.
