Multnomah County Taxpayers May Be Owed $615 Average Preschool for All Tax Refund
MULTNOMAH COUNTY, Ore. — Some Multnomah taxpayers may be owed an average of $615 per person in Preschool for All tax refunds because their income never reached the Preschool for All tax threshold.
Preschool for All Tax Refunds Due in Portland Unclaimed
Unclaimed money is owed to thousands of taxpayers in Multnomah County whose employers withheld the local Preschool for All income tax from their paychecks even though they did not meet the income thresholds to owe the tax, according to the City of Portland Revenue Division.
The city has established that over 6,500 people who had taxes withheld in 2021 and 2022 never filed a return to claim it.
The tax applies above $125,000 for single filers or $200,000 for joint filers. People below these thresholds normally do not need to file a PFA return but anyone who had the tax withheld must file a return to recover an overpayment. Refunds are not issued automatically, even when the city already has withholding records.
