Medford Man Shot After Allegedly Trying to Break Into Apartment With Axe
MEDFORD, Ore. — A suspect with gunshot wounds, 22-year-old Julian Moon Haight, was hospitalized after being shot by the occupant while trying to break into a Medford apartment with an axe on Tuesday at approximately 4:55 a.m.
Medford Police responded to a report of a person in mental distress in the 600 block of South Oakdale Avenue after a caller reported that a neighbor in an adjacent apartment was screaming and behaving erratically.
En route, the officers learned that the person was attempting to break into a neighboring apartment using an axe.
The occupant of that apartment discharged a firearm, striking the suspect. Officers found Haight suffering from a gunshot wound to an extremity when they arrived.

- En route : Police learn a neighboring apartment is allegedly being targeted.
- Minutes later : Occupant fires and Haight is hit in an extremity.
- After response : Officers give aid and transport him to hospital.
Officers provided emergency medical aid until he was taken to a local hospital, where he is currently receiving treatment. No one else was injured during the incident.
