Thieves Hit Happy Valley Funeral Home Four Times in a Week, Taking Trailers, a Van and Tools

HAPPY VALLEY, Ore. — Two men are in custody in the Clackamas County Jail after several brazen burglaries involving thousands of dollars from a Happy Valley funeral home.

Eliah “Eli” Leslie Wright (42) of Eagle Creek and Robert Eugene Hillis (30) of Happy Valley now face multiple charges related to burglaries at the Lincoln Memorial Park and Funeral Home at 11801 Southeast Mt. Scott Blvd.

Investigators say that on October 8, 2026, the suspects went to the funeral home three times between 1 a.m. and 3 a.m. and stole power tools, two trailers, and a Ford Transit van.

One week later, on October 15, investigators say the suspects returned to the funeral home, stealing tools, another trailer, and a John Deere side-by-side utility vehicle.

A Stolen Trailer Was Attached to an Unoccupied Truck

The following day, at 4:18 a.m., a patrolling Happy Valley Police sergeant found an unoccupied 1995 Chevrolet truck parked near Vradenburg Road and Southeast 162nd Avenue. A stolen trailer was attached to the vehicle.

The sergeant said a man approached him and identified himself as the owner of the truck. The man was Eliah Wright, who had an outstanding arrest warrant for aggravated theft from Multnomah County. The sergeant placed Wright into custody.

Later that afternoon, Robert Hillis pulled up to the parked Chevy truck on a motorcycle that was later found to have an expired registration and no insurance. Hillis told deputies he had come to retrieve his wallet from the truck. He was also placed into custody.

The two men are facing charges of aggravated theft, first-degree theft, two counts of second-degree burglary, two counts of possession of a stolen vehicle, and the unauthorized use of a motor vehicle.
