Springfield Mother Gets 15 Years in Prison After Using Taser on Her Seven-Year-Old Son
LANE COUNTY, Ore. — A 36-year-old woman from Springfield, who together with her boyfriend was arrested for tasering her seven-year-old son, among other reported charges of severe abuse, has been sent to prison for 15 years.
Heather Black and her boyfriend, Brandon Rogers, were arrested last October following an investigation by the Department of Human Services. The couple were found to have abused both the boy and his four-year-old sister.
The Child Was Tasered and His Body was Covered in Wounds
The investigation revealed that the boy’s body was covered in wounds and that a taser gun was used on him as a form of discipline. The little girl was allegedly also threatened with the stun gun.
The couple were charged with 63 counts each which included assault, criminal mistreatment, the unlawful use of a weapon, and menacing.
In a plea deal with the Lane County District Attorney’s Office, Black pleaded guilty to 11 charges and was sentenced on five counts of first-degree criminal mistreatment, five counts of second-degree assault, and one count of unlawful use of a weapon.
She was imprisoned for 15 years, with three years of supervision on her release.
Brandon Rogers is in jail and will go on trial in February 2026.
