Medford Felon Sentenced After Hiding Loaded Handgun During Second Arrest
MEDFORD, Ore. — A convicted felon from Medford, 31-year-old Devon James Wright, was sentenced to federal prison yesterday after being caught on two occasions with firearms.
Court documents indicate that Wright was caught with firearms twice:
- June 23, 2024: Police found a semi-automatic pistol and a full magazine in Wright’s backpack after a car he was in was stopped for a traffic violation. At the time, he was on parole for a previous conviction for unlawfully possessing a firearm.
- October 26, 2024: After being stopped in a stolen vehicle but before exiting, Wright placed a loaded handgun inside the purse of another occupant next to a fully loaded extended magazine.
On December 8, 2025, Wright pleaded guilty to two counts of Felon in Possession of a Firearm after a federal grand jury in Medford returned a two-count indictment on March 6, 2025.

- Oct. 26, 2024 : loaded handgun found during stolen vehicle stop.
- Mar. 6, 2025 : federal grand jury returns two count indictment.
- Dec. 8, 2025 : Wright pleads guilty.
- Apr. 9, 2026 : sentenced to 70 months plus 3 years supervised release.
The U.S. Attorney’s Office (Oregon) confirmed that Wright was sentenced to 70 months in federal prison and 3 years of supervised release.
