Grants Pass Police Arrest 23-Year-Old for Brutal Assault in 7th Street Park Misidentification Attack
GRANTS PASS, Ore. — Grants Pass Police Department officers found and arrested the suspect in Tuesday’s assault in 7th Street Park, 23-year-old James McClung, near Bakers Park yesterday afternoon.
A man bleeding profusely from the head- who had been hit across the head with an unknown object by a white male while at the 7th Street Camp, walked into the lobby of the Grants Pass Police Department on Tuesday at about 11:41 pm.
He said the man who struck him had been looking for someone else he mistakenly thought was the victim. After medics responded, the victim was taken to the Three Rivers Medical Center for treatment.
After an investigation, officers established the suspect’s identity- McClung found him at Baker Park, near the area currently being used for camping. McClung was arrested and lodged at the Josephine County Jail on a charge of Assault in the second degree.
