Drunk Boater’s Reckless Joyride with Teens Ends in Arrest at Lost Creek Lake

JACKSON COUNTY, Ore. — A 55-year-old intoxicated boater with four teenagers and another man onboard was arrested on Tuesday night at Lost Creek Lake after he was reported speeding recklessly near the shore.

After being notified by ECSO Dispatch, Jackson County Sheriff’s Office (JCSO) deputies contacted the boater upon arrival and observed multiple indicators of impairment.

After administering standardized field sobriety tests, JCSO deputies arrested him for BUII and four counts of recklessly endangering.

JCSO reminded boaters that their priority is to take immediate action to remove impaired boaters who pose a risk to themselves or others. Alcohol use remains the leading known contributing factor in recreational boating fatalities. For more information on boating under the influence, visit:
