Oregon Pulls Out of Trump’s 250th Anniversary Fair as State Cites Cost and Partisanship

Both Oregon and Washington states have withdrawn from President Donald Trump’s upcoming Great American State Fair in Washington, D.C., organized by Freedom 250, a nonprofit aligned with Trump.

While state fair organizers say all 50 states and U.S. territories will still be represented when the event begins on June 25, Oregon Governor Tina Kotek’s office confirmed that the state withdrew due to high costs and that the event is shaping up to be more partisan than originally presented.

Tidings Insight
Oregon is not dropping the 250th anniversary. It is skipping the Washington, D.C. fair while keeping state backed local events, exhibits and community programming.

The Great American State Fair is scheduled as part of celebrations marking the United States’ semiquincentennial, but Oregon remains committed to celebrating the nation’s 250th anniversary- locally- with America 250 Oregon Commission exhibitions and events planned through the summer and beyond.
