Nine Oregon Airports Get Nearly $14.5 Million for Runway, Terminal and Infrastructure Upgrades
Nine airports across Oregon are set to receive a combined total of nearly $14.5 million in federal funding for critical infrastructure improvements, runway maintenance, and facility modernization.
Federal Funding For Oregon Airports
A funding package was officially announced by Oregon’s congressional delegation, including U.S. Senators Jeff Merkley and Ron Wyden, alongside U.S. Representatives Suzanne Bonamici, Val Hoyle, Andrea Salinas, and Maxine Dexter.
The allocations between several Oregon airports are as follows:
- Portland International Airport: Receives the largest share at over $10.6 million. The funds are designated for rehabilitating 1,425 feet of runway, reconstructing 153,500 square feet of terminal concourses, replacing moving walkways, renovating restrooms, improving wayfinding, and adding a children’s play area.
- Eugene Airport: Allocated $2 million to construct a new outbound baggage system featuring an integrated screening area to modernize terminal operations.
- Ashland Municipal Airport: Secures $563,000 to reconstruct 131 feet of taxilane and reseal over 7,000 feet of taxilane and runway surfaces.
- Pendleton Eastern Oregon Regional Airport: Receives $285,000 specifically for purchasing necessary snow removal equipment.
- Hermiston Airport: Awarded $274,000 towards funding the construction of a new 15,000-square-foot aircraft storage hangar.
- Prineville Airport: Awarded $137,000, which, like Hermiston, goes towards funding the construction of a new 15,000-square-foot aircraft storage hangar.
- Scappoose Airport: Granted $225,000 to reseal 5,100 feet of taxiway pavement.
- McNary Field (Salem): Receives $200,000 to rehabilitate 1,250 feet of deteriorating taxiway.
- La Grande/Union County Airport: Allocated $137,000 to construct 360 feet of new taxilane.
