K-9 Trapper Helps Douglas County Detectives Uncover Meth Operation Tied to Myrtle Creek Woman

DOUGLAS COUNTY, Ore. — A Myrtle Creek woman was taken into custody on Tuesday after an investigation by the Douglas Interagency Narcotics Team (DINT) led detectives to believe that she was dealing in methamphetamine.

Laquita Twete (46) was detained after a Douglas County Sheriff’s Office deputy carried out a traffic stop on her vehicle, and the agency’s K-9, Trapper, alerted him to the presence of a controlled substance in the vehicle. A search uncovered 87.1 grams of methamphetamine.

Following the stop, detectives served a search warrant at Twete’s home in the 300 block of Conrad Street. They reported finding an additional small amount of suspected meth, about 3.2 grams, along with a digital scale.

Twete was booked into the Douglas County Jail on multiple charges, including three counts related to the delivery and possession of methamphetamine. She also faces three charges for driving while her license is suspended or revoked.

DINT is a collaborative drug-enforcement unit made up of personnel from several agencies, including the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office, Roseburg Police Department, Oregon State Police, the Douglas County District Attorney’s Office, and the Bureau of Land Management.

The task force focuses on identifying and disrupting drug-trafficking operations at both the local and regional levels.
