Jealous Man Attacks Couple With Hammer for Talking to His Girlfriend Outside Roseburg Motel
ROSEBURG, Ore. — Herculano Gonzales-Lopez of Winchester is facing multiple charges following an attack with a hammer on guests at a motel in Roseburg late at night on 23 May.
According to the Roseburg Police Department, Gonzales-Lopez attacked a couple in the parking lot of Motel 6 on Northwest Aviation Drive in a fit of jealousy because they were talking to his girlfriend.
When members of the RPD arrived on the scene, they found a man sitting on a curb, bleeding from a head wound, and a woman lying on the ground in the parking lot.
When the police spoke to the suspect in his motel room, he denied any involvement in the incident. However, the RPD says several witnesses saw Gonzales-Lopez attacking the victims with a hammer that he then placed inside his truck before returning to his motel room.
He was transported to the Douglas County Jail and charged with second-degree assault, unlawful use of a weapon, disorderly conduct, and menacing.
