10,000 ICE Agents Target Portland and Seattle as Sanctuary Cities Defy Federal Law
The sanctuary cities of Portland in Oregon and Seattle in neighboring Washington state will resound to the sound of 10,000 thunderous ICE agent boots that will flood the areas, promises U.S. Border Czar, Tom Homan.
“We’re going to send our boots on the ground to the places where there’s a problem … the sanctuary cities,” Homan told a press conference in Washington, D.C. on Wednesday. Portland and Seattle are among the so-called problem cities, including New York, Chicago, and Los Angeles.
Sanctuary Cities Fail to Cooperate With Immigration Enforcement Laws
President Donald Trump’s right-hand strongman, Homan, says sanctuary cities are failing to cooperate with immigration enforcement laws by refusing to arrest undocumented criminals.
Punishments’ include the loss of federal funding, while threats of criminal penalties have also been bandied about by Attorney General Pamela Bondi.
Last month, Homan visited Portland during his tour of West Coast states, where he addressed agents at the ICE processing center.
In a press statement for Portland Mayor, Keith Wilson, press officer Cody Bowman reminded that neither the City nor its police bureau were involved in coordinating Homan’s visit, reminding that as a sanctuary city, Portland did not enforce federal immigration law.
In a statement issued at that time, Mayor Wilson described events surrounding the enforcement of immigration laws as “chilling symbols of fear and oppression”…and not the “freedom or opportunity we cherish.’
