Three Dead, One Hospitalized as Suspected Overdose Hits Roseburg RV Park

ROSEBURG, Ore. — Douglas County law enforcement officers found three people dead and another in medical distress, but alive, in an RV at the Shady Point RV park, south of Roseburg at 2703 Hwy 99S, during a contact call in a different investigation on Sunday.

An officer with the Roseburg Police Department and a deputy with the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office (DCSO) attempted to contact the occupants of an RV regarding an unrelated investigation at approximately 11:00 AM Sunday. They became concerned about the safety of the people inside based on what they could see and hear.

On entering the RV, the officers found four people inside, three of whom were determined to be deceased. The 4th person, 55-year-old Shawna Renee Walker, of Roseburg, in medical distress, was immediately transported to Mercy Medical Center via ambulance.

46-year-old Paul James Mohlsick, 55-year-old Kimberly Noel McCabe, and 41-year-old Bryan Charles Jarvis, all of Roseburg, were declared deceased on the scene.

Suspecting the incident to be a drug overdose, the officers contacted detectives with the Douglas Interagency Narcotics Team (DINT). Detectives who responded to the scene found it likely the individuals had been using fentanyl and/or methamphetamine at the time of their deaths based on evidence collected from the scene.

Evidence of drug use, including one ounce of fentanyl and almost two ounces of methamphetamine, scales, packaging, records, and other paraphernalia, was found at the scene. Detectives believe the group had recently returned from an unknown location north of Douglas County, possibly even out of state, where they purchased the drugs.
