Tech Shock in Oregon as Massive Intel Job Cuts Hit Hillsboro and Aloha Campuses
The Intel Corporation announced yesterday that over 500 employees in Oregon will be laid off, with the first round of terminations slated to happen over 12 days, starting July 15.
The Tech giant said 523 employees at four facilities in Hillsboro and Aloha either have or will receive notices at least 60 days or four weeks before their terminations are due. The facilities that are affected by the Intel Oregon layoffs are:
- 3585 SW 198th Ave. in Aloha
- 2501 NW Century Blvd. Hillsboro
- 5200 NE Elam Young Parkway in Hillsboro
- 2111 NE 25th Ave. in Hillsboro.
Intel said no union employees were affected by the layoffs, but the layoffs are expected to be permanent.
The company sent out a list of affected positions, and the WARN notice sent out to staff indicates that, in lieu of further notice, employees will receive nine weeks of pay and benefits.
