Medford Heart Care Services Grow With Asante and Southern Oregon Cardiology Extending Their Partnership

MEDFORD, Ore. — Following the signing of a multi-year extension of an existing co-management relationship, Southern Oregon Cardiology and Asante announced a cardiac care expansion project that is scheduled for completion in fall 2026.

Cardiac Services Expanded As Asante- Southern Oregon Cardiology Partnership Agreement Extended

After the co-management relationship, which has been in place for more than 10 years, was extended, an expansion project that began in March last year will ensure Asante continues to expand cardiac services in southern Oregon.

The next phase of construction at Rogue Regional Medical Center (RRMC) will expand patient access to cardiac services.

RRMC is expected to be completed in fall 2026 and will include:

  • Six cath labs for procedures such as placing life-saving devices, including stents, valves, and pacemakers, with state-of-the-art equipment, plus additional shell space for future expansion.
  • A Cardiovascular Recovery Unit with additional rooms on the same floor as other cardiac units.
  • New cardiac MRI technology will also be implemented, 100% funded by philanthropy, allowing physicians to capture the heart in motion- showing how well it beats, how blood flows, and whether damage or scarring has occurred. The equipment turns standard MRI images into vivid, three-dimensional insights that reveal the heart’s structure and function with remarkable clarity.

Nathan Funk, MD, Southern Oregon Cardiology, said, “We look forward to expanding cardiac services at Rogue Regional Medical Center, allowing us to save more lives across the valley and our outlying regions.”

RRMC is ranked fourth in the nation for the lowest readmission rate among patients with heart failure, according to Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) data.
