Linn County Search Teams Recover Body of Missing Mill City Teen From North Santiam River

LINN COUNTY, Ore. — The body of teenager, Karandeep Singh, has been recovered after it was snagged by a fisherman on the North Santiam River near Mill City, and his death has been ruled as an accidental drowning.

Several unsuccessful search attempts were made since Singh (18) was last seen on October 7. The Water and Rescue Team used underwater cameras and divers in its search operations, while Linn and Marion counties employed a drone.

Singh’s body was recovered from the North Santiam River on October 24 by the county’s search and rescue units.

According to reports, Singh was last seen alive when walking with friends along the North Santiam River on the night of October 7. Singh told them he was going to jump into the water, even though the Linn County Sheriff’s Office confirmed the teenager did not know how to swim. The LCSO says it has contacted India’s Consulate General to keep Singh’s family informed.
