Klamath County Farmers Offered Grants to Battle Grasshopper and Cricket Invasions
KLAMATH COUNTY, Ore. — A reimbursement grant program has been established to help Klamath County farmers manage infestations of grasshoppers and Mormon crickets, which threaten crops, rangelands, and natural habitats.
The program was set up to assist those financially affected by the need to mitigate these invading pests, which threaten the livelihoods of the county’s farmers and ranchers, the food supply, and the overall health of the ecosystem.
A special grant committee will be reviewing applications from farmers and ranchers before making funding recommendations to the Board of Commissioners.
The grant committee consists of:
- Representatives from the Klamath Irrigation District,
- Representatives from Klamath Drainage District,
- Representatives from Van Brimmer Ditch Co.
- Two at-large citizens
Farmers and ranchers can now apply for these grants before 5:00 PM on Friday, November 14, 2025, on the Klamath County Grants Website (https://www.klamathcounty.org/1345/Grasshopper-and-Mormon-Cricket-Financial).
The Klamath County Grants Office can be contacted for more information at 541-851-3637.
