Heavy Police Response in Medford After Domestic Violence Assault as Suspect Found Missing From Home
MEDFORD, Ore. — Following a report of a domestic violence assault in the 400 block of South Columbus Avenue yesterday morning, Medford Police were continuing their search of the premises after establishing that the suspect was not in the residence.
The domestic violence victim identified the suspect as a convicted felon and reported that firearms were inside the residence.
As a result, there was probable cause for arrest related to Domestic Violence Assault IV, Menacing, Felon in Possession of a Firearm, and Reckless Driving, and Officers established a perimeter and deployed drones to assist with visibility while awaiting a search warrant.
Specialized units, including a K9 unit, assisted Medford Police at the scene after reports that an armed individual was barricaded inside the residence following a domestic violence assault.
After the warrant was approved, officers breached the residence. A thorough search of the home, crawl spaces, and a 5th wheel on the property was conducted.
By 5 pm, Officers had completed a search of the residence after obtaining a search warrant, but the suspect was not found inside the home.
Officers continued to search for the firearms reported to be at the location. Once that process is complete, units will begin clearing the area.
Police indicated that there is no ongoing threat to the neighborhood at this time and asked the public to avoid the area as officers work to resolve the situation safely.
