Grants Pass Woman Arrested After Man Stabbed in His Home and Taken to Hospital
GRANTS PASS, Ore. — A 42-year-old woman, Heidi Smith, was arrested and placed in custody after a Grants Pass man was stabbed in the upper body at his home on Wednesday night.

At about 8:30 pm on Wednesday, during a 911 call from the resident of a home in the 1000 block of NE A Street, operators heard a disturbance in the background. Grant Pass police who responded found a 39-year-old man who had been stabbed in the upper body.
Responders from Grants Pass Fire/Rescue and American Medical Response provided medical treatment on the scene before taking the man to Three Rivers Medical Center. He had significant injuries but is expected to recover. No further information has been made available about the victim.
Grants Pass Major Crimes Unit investigators who took over the case worked throughout the night until past 5:00 am to ensure a timely and effective investigation.
As a result of the investigation, Heidi Smith was taken into custody and lodged at the Josephine County Jail. She faces charges of Assault in the 2nd Degree and Unlawful Use of a Weapon.
