GRANTS PASS, Ore. — A physical altercation between two Grants Pass residents at a weekly pop-up demonstration by Josephine County Democrats ended with their arrest a few days later.
The Grants Pass Police Department reported that David T. Haury (39) and Edgar M. Pelfrey (62) had opposing viewpoints during the demonstration, which led to a highly charged atmosphere and resulted in a physical altercation.
The men were arrested and lodged in the Josephine County Jail yesterday, following a police investigation of surveillance footage taken at the August 26 incident outside the Josephine County Courthouse, next to the Anne Basker Auditorium on Northwest 6th Street.
According to police, after reviewing a video taken by a Grants Pass resident, they were unable to make a definitive decision. Additional video footage was obtained, and probable cause established.

- Aug. 26 : Initial statements and citizen video are inconclusive, so no arrests are made.
- Following days : Officers obtain additional video and establish probable cause.
- Aug. 31 : Haury and Pelfrey are arrested on harassment and disorderly conduct charges.
The two men were arrested yesterday on charges of harassment and disorderly conduct.
