Eugene Man Arrested After Cutting Off Ankle Monitor in Alleged Kidnapping Case
EUGENE, Ore. — An alleged kidnapper who had removed his pre-trial ankle monitor was arrested in Eugene late on Tuesday night and charged with contempt of court and resisting arrest.
Jonathon Brian Kelly (45) was taken into custody after the Eugene Police Department received a report at 11.35 p.m. about a domestic violence incident. The caller said Kelly had cut off his ankle monitor before allegedly taking someone hostage in a potential kidnapping.
His vehicle was flagged by a license plate reader camera near W. 11th Avenue and Bailey Hill Road. A police officer observed Kelly and a passenger exiting the vehicle in the 3000 block of 11th Avenue.
Kelly initially resisted arrest, and police officers confirmed that his victim was safe.
He was transported to the Lane County Jail.
