Bicyclist Struck and Killed by RV on Highway 140 Near Central Point

JACKSON COUNTY, Ore. — A Central Point bicyclist, 37-year-old Wesley Mad Olngellel, died on Saturday on Highway 140, near milepost 4, in Jackson County after being hit by a Freightliner recreational vehicle (motorhome).

Oregon State Police (OSP), assisted by the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office, which responded to reports of a vehicle versus bicycle crash at 2:44 p.m., indicated that their preliminary investigation revealed the eastbound motorhome, operated by 57-year-old Richard Fay McCoy of Central Point, struck Olngellel, who was in the eastbound lane of travel.

Olngellel was declared deceased at the scene. The driver of the Freightliner was uninjured.
