Amigo Club’s Guanajuato Nights

More than 120 guests attended the Amigo Club’s second annual Guanajuato Nights dinner/auction at the Elks Lodge on Saturday, where an invited chef from Ashland’s sister city prepared a four-course sample of Guanajuato cuisine.

The proceeds from ticket sales and the auction go to the Amigo Club endowed scholarship fund administered by the Southern Oregon University Foundation. The proceeds will be matched dollar-for-dollar by Faffie Siekman Romero, whose husband, Mexican Sen. Juan Carlos Romero Hicks, attended SOU as an Amistad exchange student from the University of Guanajuato.

Ashland and Guanajuato have been sister cities for nearly 48 years.
