Witcher and Superman Lead Henry Cavill Set to Star in an Epic New Warhammer 40K Project

Henry Cavill is back and better than ever. Most known for his roles as Superman and the titular Witcher, Cavill is a deeply talented actor who always seems to have a full schedule with new roles, an extremely impressive workout routine, and being the chief creative director at a supplement company.

Now that another Superman and Witcher will soon take his place, however, he’s found time to pick up a new role, and it’s one he’s deeply passionate about. He’s spent 30 long years dreaming about this extremely popular game being brought to the screen, and not only is it finally happening, but he’s going to help bring it to life.

From a table top adventure to video games to a mobile app to, finally, a TV show, this fantasy adventure series has entertained people since its first iteration back in 1987. Its community webpage has around 4.7 million users, and from 2021 to 2022, they’ve made roughly £79.3 million, or around $102 million.

Have you guessed what it is yet? Well, if you haven’t, you should get yourself well acquainted with the series, because Warhammer 40K is finally coming in a surprise live-action adaptation!

I can already hear millions of fans celebrating in the middle of their table top sessions. The celebration is well warranted, because unlike some of the more bland TV fantasy adaptations we’ve been getting as of late, this one has some actual heart and love behind it.

This was actually announced back in early December of last year, but now that the show is getting closer and closer to its release, more people are being made aware of its existence. Amazon bought the rights to the miniature wargame, which means you’re going to have to get yourself an Amazon Prime Video account if you don’t already have one. As the title of this article says, they’ve enlisted Henry Cavill to not only star in the show, but to also be the executive producer.

That’s what I mean when I say this show is going to have a lot of love behind it, because in case you didn’t know, Cavill is a huge fan of games himself, openly admitting to playing video games in his spare time. The same is with Warhammer 40K, which it turns out he’s a giant supporter of. He’s the one who picked out the director, writer, and filmmaker, and he’s been overseeing the production of the live-action iteration of one of his favorite games.

Back in December, he broke the news about his role in the show on Instagram, where he’s fairly active. Here’s the post:

“For 30 years I have dreamt of seeing a Warhammer universe in live action. Now, after 22 years of experience in this industry, I finally feel that I have the skill set and experience to guide a Warhammer Cinematic Universe into life. Partnering with Natalie Viscuso at Vertigo has been a blessing beyond words, without her we might not have found the perfect home at Amazon. And having a home like Amazon will give us the freedom to be true to the massive scope of Warhammer. To all of you Warhammer fans out there, I promise to respect this IP that we love. I promise to bring you something familiar. And I endeavour to bring you something fantastic that is, as of yet, unseen.

Our first steps are to find our Filmmaker/Creator/Writer. Watch this space, my friends.

For The Emperor!”

It’s times like these where I truly wonder what we’d done to deserve someone like Henry Cavill.

The show is set to come out sometime in 2024, with no specific date just yet, but fans are extremely excited. Far too long we’ve had adaptations that are simply cash grabs with no love behind them. Fans want to see their favorite game series come to life, as well as introduce it to new, non-game playing people so they can see why it’s so beloved. Who knows? Maybe we’ll have a wave of new Warhammer 40K players once the show is out.

We’re happy that Warhammer 40K is getting the love it deserves from more mainstream media, and that it’s being overseen by a man who genuinely adores the series. I feel as though we can rest easy knowing that the series is in good hands, but on the other hand, I’m a little worried I’ll be looking back at this article in 2024 thinking to myself, “Man I was so naive.”

Either way, fans are looking forward to seeing what Henry Cavill has cooking up for us.

For The Emperor!
