WATCH: Tigard Video Shows Truck Suddenly Go Airborne Before Slamming Into a Home at 3 A.M.

TIGARD, Ore. — A video of a truck that plowed into a house in Tigard at 3 a.m. on February 13 was recorded by a neighbor and later shared by Tigard Police on social media, including X and Facebook.

Taken by a neighbor, the video shows the extensive damage done to the private home in the 13000 block of SW Larkwood Place.

Fortunately, none of the residents were injured in the incident, but the home was extensively damaged.

The Truck Driver Has Been Charged With Driving Recklessly

The driver of the truck, 33-year-old Jacob Hankins, was arrested by Tigard Police officers and charged with reckless driving and reckless endangerment.

Tidings Context
In Oregon, reckless driving is driving with a reckless disregard that endangers people or property. Recklessly endangering another person means creating a substantial risk of serious physical injury to someone else.

Hankins and a passenger were trapped inside the truck and had to be extricated by firefighters with the Tualatin Valley Fire & Rescue service. They were treated at a local hospital for minor injuries.

According to a police report, the truck was traveling westward on SW Scholls Ferry Road when it hit a dirt mound on the side of the road and launched about 100 feet into the air, traversing a 3-foot brick wall around the property, before smashing into the house.

Tidings Insight
Investigators will use the scene, vehicle damage, and any event data to estimate speed. A dirt mound can act like a ramp, sending a fast moving truck airborne before impact.
