Trump Attacks Oregon Olympian Hunter Hess After Skier Says He Doesn’t Agree With What’s Happening in the U.S.
In a Sunday social media post, President Trump called Hunter Hess ‘a real loser’ in response to the Olympic skier’s comment that he doesn’t represent ‘everything that’s going on in the U.S.’ at his Winter Olympic debut at the Milano Cortina games.
Along with other members of Team USA, 27-year-old Hess, a freestyle skier who took bronze at both the 2024 and 2025 Winter X Games, was asked at a news conference how they feel representing the Country during the Trump administration’s heightened immigration enforcement actions.
Hess, who lives in Salt Lake City but grew up in Bend, said he had mixed emotions since he disagrees with the situation.
Hess said he chose to represent his friends and family at the Winter Olympics, as well as “all the things I believe are good about the U.S.,” despite a lot going on that he’s obviously not the biggest fan of. He thinks a lot of people aren’t. Two days later, Trump attacked Hess on social media.
Trump said Hess doesn’t represent his Country in the current Winter Olympics, despite being selected, and suggested he shouldn’t have tried out for the Team. Trump said, “It’s too bad he’s on it.”
