Springfield Driver Flees Traffic Stop, Crashes Into Dorris Ranch Gate and Gets Arrested

SPRINGFIELD, Ore. — A Springfield driver, 21-year-old David Stewart Hernandez-German, was arrested after fleeing a Lane County Sheriff’s Office (LCSO) traffic stop around midnight last night, resulting in a police chase that ended after he crashed into a security gate.

Just after midnight on Saturday, an LCSO deputy gave chase after an Acura Integra sedan, which had been pulled over on Highway 126 at Pioneer Parkway in Springfield for a traffic violation, fled at high speed.

The driver, Hernandez-German, sped south on Pioneer Parkway and then onto S. 2nd Street before crashing into the security gate at Dorris Ranch.

The gate and other property were significantly damaged, and a passenger was injured in the crash. A concealed handgun was found on the driver, who was arrested for multiple crimes.

Hernandez-German was lodged at the Lane County Jail on charges of Attempt to Elude Police Officer by Vehicle, Reckless Driving, Assault in the 4th Degree, Reckless Endangerment, Criminal Mischief in the 2nd Degree, and Unlawful Possession of a Firearm.
