School Bus and Truck Crash in Jackson County Sends Driver and Passenger to Hospital With Serious Injuries

JACKSON COUNTY, Ore. — A bus driver and passenger were hospitalized with serious injuries, and one child suffered minor Injuries after a passenger truck ran a stop sign and crashed into a Jackson County School District 6 school bus at the intersection of Newland Road and Truax Road in rural Central Point on Friday morning.

After receiving an ECSO 911 Dispatch call at 7:11 a.m., Jackson County Sheriff’s Office (JCSO) deputies responded to the two-vehicle crash with Oregon State Police Troopers and Jackson County Fire District 3 personnel.

According to the preliminary  Jackson County Serious Traffic Accident Reconstruction (STAR) Team investigation, a Toyota Tundra traveling north on Truax Road ran a stop sign and struck the westbound school bus on Newland Road. Jackson County Roads closed the intersection.

Both injured adults were taken to a local hospital, where they remain in stable condition. One child was on the bus at the time and suffered minor injuries. There were no reported injuries to those in the passenger truck. The STAR Team is investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash.
