Public Forests Net $13.5 Million in Oregon as BLM Timber Demand Surges
The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) Oregon indicated yesterday that the July timber sales earned almost $13.5 million. The dollars will support jobs and local economies while aiding sustainable forest management.
BLM Oregon Timber Sales: Almost $13.5 Million Sales In July 2025
In Western Oregon, BLM sold 47.7 million board feet of timber from 1,673 public acres for $13,489,277 in July. This will feed local mills and support jobs in western Oregon communities, while producing enough timber to build about 3,000 homes.
BLM manages 2.4 million acres 2.4 million acres of some of the most productive forests in the world in western Oregon, supplying a reliable, secure, and resilient domestic supply of timber while supporting economic security, reducing risks from wildfire, conserving fish and wildlife habitat, and decreasing the costs of energy production.
Many local communities rely on jobs sustained by BLM forests, while the timber from public land feeds local industries.
The BLM’s forestry program in Oregon and Washington supports approximately 2,000 local jobs and generates over $1 billion for local economies annually.
The revenue from timber sold on O&C lands is shared between the U.S. Treasury and 18 western Oregon counties. These timber sales also in line with with the Trump administration’s policy of maximizing the use of domestic resources, supporting rural economies, and promoting American energy and materials independence.
