Portland Trail Blazers Early Dominance Wanes In Second Half Against Indiana Pacers
After taking an early lead for much of the first half, shooting losses from the Portland Trail Blazers contributed to a 114-121 loss against the Indiana Pacers on Wednesday in Indianapolis.
Both teams are now 1-2 in NBA Cup play- Indiana improved to 7-2 at home, while Portland is 3-8 on the road.
Portland Trail Blazers vs Indiana Pacers Game Highlights
The Trail Blazers led by as many as 10 in the first half. Entering the final quarter, Portland cut an 11-point deficit down to two, but missed balls saw the Pacers edge forward as Pascal Siakam, Bennedict Mathurin, and Tyrese Haliburton took turns making shots for Indiana as Haliburton scored 12 points and Siakam nine.
Portland hit nine 3-pointers in the first half in all, and the highlights of the game included:
- Anfernee Simons hit a 3-pointer in the final moments of the second quarter to break even at 60-all, setting up a tight second half. He had six 3-pointers and shot 10-for-21 from the field and 6-for-12 from deep.
- Shaedon Sharpe and Scoot Henderson logged 17 points each, while Ayton added 16 points with a game-high 12 rebounds and three blocks.
- Henderson had nine assists, and Deni Avdija added 16 points and seven assists.
- For Indiana, Siakam shot 12-for-20 from the floor, scoring five of his season-high-tying 29 points in a late 7-0 spurt. He also had seven rebounds and four assists.
- Haliburton contributed 28 points, ten assists, and seven rebounds, while Mathurin logged 24 points and ten boards, scoring 20 or more points in eight of his last 13 games, and Myles Turner added 15 points, eight rebounds, and five blocks.
Indiana Pacers vs Portland Trail Blazers Full Game Highlights
Despite outshooting the Pacers by 50.6 percent to 48.4 percent overall and 45.7 percent to 40.6 percent from long range, the Blazers added a loss to their total but face the Sacramento Kings on Saturday, November 30 at home.
