Portland Police Seize Drugs and Ammo After Bike Officers Spot Suspiciously Parked Car
PORTLAND, Ore. — The Portland Police Central Bike Squad seized 14.1 pounds of marijuana, 16 times the legal limit, as well as ammunition, and a realistic replica firearm, after questioning two occupants sitting in a parked vehicle in the Old Town neighborhood on Friday evening.
The officers established that the occupants were in possession of fentanyl and went on to make their discovery during an inventory search of the vehicle while waiting for it to be towed from an illegal parking area.
The bike squad officers became suspicious of a box on the back seat of the vehicle and, when opening it, made the discovery. The marijuana was packed and sealed in bricks and was 16 times the legal limit allowed by law in Oregon, classifying the possession as a felony crime.
The Bike Squad booked Mykell A. Bru (37) and Luella T. Asuluk (39) into the Multnomah County Detention Center on charges of possession of fentanyl and the unlawful possession of cannabis.
According to a statement by the PPB, the Central Bike Squad frequently undertakes high-visibility patrols in areas identified by the police as crime and drug hotbeds. Members of the squad offer treatment, housing, and other resources to appropriate individuals, and their efforts are helping to improve safety and the quality of life in the Portland city center, says PPB.
