Portland Police Arrest Suspect in Fatal Downtown Shooting of Joshua Manahan
PORTLAND, Ore. — A suspect, 42-year-old Rodney Marcus Arreguin of Portland, was arrested yesterday following a police investigation into a shooting incident that occurred last Sunday in downtown Portland.
44-year-old Joshua Manahan died of injuries sustained during the incident after being taken to hospital.
Portland Police’s Central Precinct officers responding to reports of a shooting near the intersection of South Harbor Drive and South Harrison Street on April 27 at about 10:20 p.m. discovered an injured adult male who had been shot.
The man, who was later identified as Manahan, was taken to an area hospital with serious injuries, where he later died, but the suspect/s had fled the scene.
The Medical Examiner determined Manahan died of homicide by gunshot wound. Manahan’s family was notified of the death. They requested privacy at this time but provided the photo of Manahan for public release.
After locating the suspect, Arreguin, at about 8:00 a.m. yesterday, Portland Police Bureau (PPB) detectives from the East Precinct arrested him. He was lodged at the Multnomah County Detention Center. Arreguin was charged with Murder in the Second Degree and Robbery in the First Degree.
