Portland Homicide Detectives Investigating After Man Found Dead Near SW 3rd Avenue

PORTLAND, Ore. — The body of a dead male adult, believed to have been the victim of a shooting, was found in a parking lot in the 300 block of Southwest 3rd Avenue in the early hours of Sunday morning by Portland Central Precinct officers.

When the police arrived on the scene after receiving a report of a person down on the ground, there was no sign of a suspect(s), and no arrests have yet been made.

The officers summoned paramedics to the scene, but the victim was pronounced deceased. Although his death appears to have been caused by a gunshot, this will have to be determined by a medical examiner.

The case is being investigated by the Portland Police Homicide Unit, which has closed Southwest Harvey Milk Street between Southwest 3rd Avenue and Southwest 5th Avenue. Southwest 4th Avenue is also closed between Southwest Washington Street and Southwest Oak Street.
