Portland Family Tragedy as Man Kills Mother and 10-Year-Old Sister Before Taking His Own Life

PORTLAND, Ore. — The triple homicide in the Brentwood-Darlington Neighborhood on Saturday was the tragic aftermath of a 22-year-old male who is believed to have shot his mother and 10-year-old sister before turning the gun on himself, according to the Portland Police Department (PPD).

While the identities of the family will not be released until the completion of autopsies by the Medical examiner, neighbors have expressed shock and sorrow at the event which unfolded late Saturday afternoon when the PPD’s East Precinct received a report of a suicide at a home in the 7000 block of Southeast 64th Avenue.

They found all three deceased from gunshot wounds on their arrival at the property.

The Woodmere Elementary School, which the 10-year-old attended, has provided students and their families with emotional support in an acknowledgment of the impact her death has had on many of the students. The school also organized volunteers from the Trauma Intervention Program to offer trauma support to the school children.

Police are calling on anyone with information about the incident to contact Detective William Winters at [email protected] or Detective J.D. McGuire at [email protected], and reference case number 25-245107.
