The investigation by Oregon State Police (OSP), who responded to reports of a two-vehicle crash, indicates that a westbound Honda Civic, driven by 24-year-old Tahj Mahalia Miller of Klamath Falls, entered the eastbound lane to pass other westbound vehicles.

At the same time, the westbound Cadillac CTS of Moses also attempted to enter the eastbound lane to pass westbound cars.

The Cadillac clipped the front of the Honda with its rear quarter panel, causing the Cadillac to lose control. The Cadillac then rolled down the eastbound shoulder of the highway before coming to rest on its top in an adjacent field.

The Cadillac driver (Moses), who was not wearing a seatbelt, was ejected from the vehicle and declared deceased at the scene. The passenger (Conney) was also declared deceased at the scene.

The Bonanza Fire Department and ODOT assisted OSP. The Honda driver(Miller) and two passengers, a juvenile (3) and a juvenile (5), were reportedly uninjured. The highway was impacted for approximately six hours during the on-scene investigation.
