Oregon Woman Allegedly Punched a Federal Officer in the Face as He Tried to Handcuff Her

An Oregon woman from Happy Valley appeared in federal court yesterday, charged with assaulting a Federal Protective Service (FPS) officer by punching him in the face.

Twenty-five-year-old Breeanne Rivas allegedly assaulted the officer on Wednesday in an incident during which she made an obscene hand signal at him.

According to court documents, the on-duty FPS officer was driving a clearly marked federal police patrol vehicle. Rivas is said to have turned into the right lane and, for more than four miles, continuously braked her vehicle in front of the officer.

The FPS officer initiated a traffic stop, and when Rivas continued to ignore his orders after stepping out of her vehicle, she then punched him in the face as he attempted to handcuff her.

Rivas appeared before a U.S. magistrate judge. Who ordered her release, pending further court proceedings.
